Dear Diary,

Today finally get to talk to my cousin, Luis, on the phone.. he also studying in UK- London Music Academy.. So clever! studying for 4 yrs.. so asked him a few qns about life overseas and all seem to be good.. but then he asked me what I really wanna do.. and doing a double degree is definitely going to be hard.. and if I am only interested in the audio tech side, then taking the music principal would be tedious and time-consuming..

haix.. he's so lucky! got full scholarship from his sch! don't need to pay a single cent! and got allowance.. so don't need to work there also.. just concentrate on his studies and perf on his Oboe..

For me leh.. i'm still waiting for the notice.. If can't get local scholarship to cover the rest of my expenses, then I won't go le.. cos' its too expensive.. though my father keep saying he can afford.. i just tell him the cost and all.. but I can't be so selfish.. he's the sole breadwinner of the family.. have to work so hard to support us.. all of us count on him for money..

Then thought for quite some time on the train on the way to SYCO..If I were to go to NIE/NTU.. i'll have to become a teacher le.. then Hsien Han told me don't become a music teacher cos' your chance of promoting into headmaster and all is very very slim.. he asked b4.. cos' he wanna become a teacher too.. so good.. got chance to go sch to do relief teaching..

He is somehow right la.. its really true.. music teachers are actually not very important in pri or sec schs unless they teach those music elective progs and higher level..then music teachers usually only teach music.. so a combination of other subjects would be weird..

And im confused again.. if I don't become a music teacher, then I only can become a pri sch teacher teaching math, english and science..

oh man.. and my lecturers all don't want me to give up in music.. I also dont want.. but then thinking through, I actually have not so much interest in the music theory and history side.. Cos' music is all about math too.. I don't really like math.. gives me headache.. guess my brain is too lazy.haha..

And today I read through the things that I would learn for music side in keele uni and if I don't take up perf, I would have to take up music theory, history of music, study the stravinsky musician thingy.. like not my area of interest..

Luis also told me that if I wanna go UK to take up perf in DiZi, it would be somehow useless.. cos' they are doing western instrus there.. though the Proff emailed Jemie and I said he found a YangQin teacher for her and is still looking for a DiZi teacher there, thinking now.. I feel that what Luis said is true.. Doing Oriental Music would be really weird and off..

Haix..

I'm so damn contradicting myself now.. stupid man!

I wanna become a recording engineer.. imagine next time I recording for some really famous pop singer.. oh man!

but how.. Wee Kiat told me that there are other unis in UK, Japan, Aust that have audio technology courses.. but then i'm so lost again.. Luis also told me that if you wanna study music related stuffs.. only by going overseas then you would be successful.. cos' SG still do not have the courses yet.. haix..

Or maybe I should follow Hazel and Mei Hui to go work for 1 yr first and think real carefully on what I really wanna do before I make my final decision..

If can.. I wanna try working in many areas.. like relief teaching, working in recording studios.. and so on.. to see whether I like it or not..

But after my attachment in yr 2, I really love to be in the studio recording for clients! It's really fun playing around with the mixers and learning many cool stuffs.. like short cuts and diff techniques..

I think my dream of becoming a musician must stop here le..

So just have to see how ba.. hope I'll get an answer soon.. If I can receive full scholarship sponsor from MDA, NAC or MOE.. and to have my tuition fees and accomodation, airfare, allowance and etc to be fully paid for.. then I will go overseas ba..

Is this even possible?

MAybe... Cos' my cousin got it.. and he don't have to sign any bonds or contract!!

Or maybe not.. cos' its SG...haha..

today SYCO so sweet! cos got one stagehand uncle leaving le.. today his last day in SCO.. and then all of us gave him a surprise by playing "Auld Lang Syne" for him after our prac.. didnt have score.. so just played by ear.. it went really nice!! so touching.. =)
